I nixed the poem. Instead I've added the jazz half of my music collection.

Hello, there isn't much here yet. There is a mid poem. I've got to be just mediocre at something to center myself. Where there isn't pressure to create something perfect. I'm honestly not sure I like poetry all that much. I don't really read any. Every now and then I'll just feel like writing something. I never share any of them, so maybe I will here. More than likely I will fall into the same trap I always do and work on this for a few days and never return 🤷♀️. I guess we'll see.
Music Collection
Current Favorites - Jazz
- Simply Said - Kenny Garrett
- 1+1 - Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter/li>
- The Paris Concert Vol. 1 - Bill Evans
- So Near, So Far - Joe Henderson
The title Simply Said is very fitting for the album. The compositions simpler and Garrett's playing is more melodic while still maintaing his established language. 1+1 is just a masterpiece. Mainly composed by Shorter and Hancock, songs seem to call to stories found in classics and film. It's a melodic powerhouse worth returning to over and over. The Paris Concert Vol. 1 is absolutely stunning trio work. It's some of his last work before his death in 1980. Beautifully introspective and the liner notes are well worth the read. They're inspirational.
So Near, So Far is straight ahead playing. Absolutely killing Scofield on this. His guitar tone is one to be remembered. At first when I was listening I really locked in with the guitar solo and just blurted out Scofield! Upon checking the personnel list, I was right. His playing is very distinct. Henderson's solo on Miles Ahead is a favorite of mine. This album makes me question why I stick to alto but I don't think I'll ever switch.
